In the world of steelheading, you normally assume all the risk for your water conditions. For example if you reserve a day on the upper copper for $800 per person and the river blows out, you are out of luck and still on the hook. If you fly into the Silver Hilton and the river is blown out you are stuck in the lodge playing cards until it clears. Our unique program offers you all the advantages without the risk.
Our standard fishing program from camp is fishing two days on the Skeena, two days on the Bulkley and two days on the Morice for a total of six days guided fishing. This allows for flexibility to target our beats under the most ideal water conditions. The upper Bulkley and Morice rivers are fishable 90% of the time throughout a fishing season. You will always have somewhere to go fish, no matter how dire the circumstances.
Upon booking you can include days to the Babine River and Upper Skeena River, creating your own ideal steelhead trip. The standard program is the base rate of the trip for $6200. If our guests select not to take advantage of the helicopter trips $6200 is all that they will pay. Or, if you are planning to come fish the Babine and upper Skeena but they blow out, you will not be charged any more even though you reserved these rivers in your itinerary.
Below is a video we put together to give you a little taste of the tour and what to expect (watch in HD its better)…
This package is the only one in British Columbia that offers the day trips to the Babine River. Fly in to the sister lodge on the Babine and head off in a jet boat for the day. You can also decide to book an overnight trip and stay at a riverside cabin on the Babine river for a two day side trip. From the camp it is about 20 minutes in a chopper to the Babine. To fish the Babine you would pay an additional $300 per day for rod day fees and the typical helicopter rate.
These trips are in high demand at the moment. The upper Skeena is a pristine environment with practically no fishing pressure or environmental disturbance. From the base camp it is about 20-30 minutes in a chopper to the Upper Skeena River. You will have you own helicopter for the day moving whenever you’d like. Dropping into runs without so much as a footprint throughout the day!
Smithers is a steel header’s mecca. Home to the world famous Bulkley River, the area around Smithers is stunning in the Fall, as the hillsides glow in orange and yellow. The steelhead fishing here is among some of the best in the world.
Bulkley River: Spectacular steelhead fishing is what the Bulkley is know for. An easily waded beautiful river with approximately 20,000 returning wild steelhead annually. This is a dream fishery that is one of ours, and our clients, favourites.
Morice River: The Morice is the main tributary of the Bulkley and offers some spectacular fishing during the late summer and fall months. The Morice offers easy wading, short casting distances and high numbers of congregating fish.
The camp is built in perfectly with the surroundings and is a true steelhead gem. It is located on an unguided classified river which guests can fish on there own any time of day if they follow the rules and regulations set forth by the government. The camp takes six guests a week and private tents can be arranged if asked for in advance. There is a dinning room, large deck area and kitchen to socialize in. There are outhouses and a shower facility to utilize anytime. The tents are wood heated and extremely comfortable in every regard. The food is home style cooking prepared by a professional chef that is far better than any other camp we have seen. Although it is basic, it will exceed your expectations.

What is the major advantage of this trip over a regular lodge package? Advantages include fishing a variety of rivers. Most lodge packages only have access to one or two rivers, while on this tour you can fish multiple rivers over the days you are here. This gives you the opportunity to experience a variety of fisheries and only fish the rivers that are in optimal shape, no sitting on the sidelines with this trip! They only disadvantage was if you were looking for luxury lodge accommodations, this is not the trip for you, we’d suggest our Bulkley Lodge Package or our Skeena Spey Package if that was of importance.
Why is this trip priced the way it is? Single days of fishing on the classified rivers of northern BC is always more expensive than a lodge package. We’ve done our best to keep the price down by bundling days on different rivers. The tour is priced comparably to most lodge packages.
