So you’re a sucker for punishment and want to go fishing in Canada in December eh? Most of the time we’ll be telling you to save your money and come fish with us another time but if you’re dying for a trip there are some options. Be forewarned, river levels and temperatures are at the lowest in December, making fishing conditions difficult.
The only all-inclusive package offered in December is steelhead fishing in Haida Gwaii on BC’s northern coast.
If you’re planning a Christmas holiday ski trip to BC then there’s some good fishing to be had near Vancouver and Whistler. The most popular is a trout trip to the Squamish River, about 45 minutes south of Whistler where temperatures are significantly warmer and fishing is good.
There’s often some good chinook salmon fishing to be had right from Vancouver in December as small fish feed on massive schools of bait.
For serious steelhead anglers there are options in Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island for winter-run steelhead. Vancouver Island is a popular destination in January, with early season fish rolling in to local rivers. Keep in mind timing these trips can be finicky, but if you hit it right fishing can be lights out!
Getting anglers like you into first-class fishing trips is what we’ve done for over a decade.
We look forward to earning your business.
