Vancouver Fishing Trips F.a.q.’s

WE WANT YOU TO HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH US, HERE’S A FEW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS THAT WILL HELP YOU PLAN YOUR TRIP

When's the best time for fishing in Vancouver?

We do offer trips year round in Vancouver, but prime fishing is generally from early March to late November. There are some Winter fly fishing opportunities on local rivers, but if you want the best fishing in Vancouver you should plan on a Spring, Summer or Fall trip.

We've never been fishing before, do you need experience?

No experience necessary for any of our trips. We introduce lots of people with no fishing experience to the great sport of fishing. If you are willing to learn and have some fun our guide staff will take care of making sure you have a great day on the water.

Do we need to buy fishing licenses?

Yes. Fishing licenses are required for all our trips. Upon booking we’ll send you detailed instructions on how you can easily buy your freshwater or saltwater BC fishing license online. License pricing is based on residency.

What kind of fish do you catch in Vancouver?

On our fly fishing trips we find rainbow trout, bull trout, cutthroat trout and steelhead in local rivers. We also catch pink, chum and coho salmon during the Summer and Fall months in local rivers. On our Vancouver salmon charters we catch all five species of Pacific Salmon throughout the year. On the Fraser River we catch white sturgeon, the largest freshwater game fish in North America!

Can we keep the fish with catch?

On our Vancouver salmon fishing charters you most definitely can. On our fly fishing and sturgeon fishing trips it is 100% catch and release fishing.

Do I need my own transportation to come fishing?

Our fly fishing trips including transportation from Vancouver, we’ll pick you up. The salmon fishing charters leave right from downtown Vancouver, so if you don’t have transportation, then it’s not a problem, boats are moored with 5-10 minutes of all major Vancouver hotels. Sturgeon fishing trips take place east of Vancouver and do require you to have your own transportation, or we can arrange transportation services for you.

Where do you guide the fly fishing trips?

Our Vancouver fly fishing trips take place mainly on the Squamish River system, located about an hour north of Vancouver. This is a wild river system with multiple rivers, offering nearly year-round fly fishing opportunities. We also have a guiding operation in Whistler BC, which is about 90 minutes north of Vancouver. In Whistler we have smaller mountain streams and alpine lakes to fish.

What's the largest group size you can accommodate?

With enough notice we can handle any group size for any of our Vancouver fishing trips. We’ve had up to 60 people salmon fishing on a day before and over 30 fly fishing, so doing corporate or group fishing trips is something we can take care of.
