Spring Fishing near Whistler
Bull Trout & Steelhead
Spring fly fishing in Whistler runs from late February to mid May. This is when we spend most of our days on the Squamish River, just south of Whistler. Slushy snow and you need a break from the mountain, then drive 35 minutes south and we’ll have you swinging flies for chrome steelhead and native bull trout. The most consistent window is mid March through mid May, when river levels are prime. This is a great time to swing flies for wild bright fish, surrounded by the snow capped peaks of the Squamish valley.
Summer Fly Fishing in Whistler
Wild Trout & Pink Salmon
Whistler is a tourist mecca during the summer months and there’s plenty of fun fishing options locally. Our favourite is the Birkenhead River just north of town near Pemberton BC. Late May through early July can be limited as river levels are usually at their peak periods. In odd years a drive down to Squamish will put you in the heart of some epic pink salmon fishing, with prime dates being August and September.
Fall Fly Fishing in Squamish
Pacific Salmon
There aren’t a ton of options for fly fishing in Whistler during the fall but October and November are prime months for a BC fly fishing trip in Squamish. Come strip flies for wild salmon, including the wily coho (silver) salmon on the Squamish River. This is an excellent time for a trip, as the valleys turn to gold, the eagles return and hard fighting salmon burn up reel.
Winter Fly Fishing
Bull Trout
Winter fly fishing in Whistler runs through December, January, and February. Told you we guide year-round, just with a few extra layers! We spend this part of the year in Squamish, where the temperatures are much more moderate than Whistler and where we can offer you some really cool fly fishing on coastal rivers, targeting wild bull trout native to the Pacific Northwest. Whether it’s a day off from skiing or you just need some fresh air, we got ya!

We love when people put their trust in us for a day on the water. There’s other guiding companies, but likely you can see what sets us apart. What you can’t see is our communication before the trip. We’re out in front of everything, making sure you have everything you need for a great day on the water. Here’s a bit of extra info that’s good to know before clicking that contact button.
When You Book
So you’re ready to book your day, but what’s next? When you book we’ll send you a detailed reservation with everything you need to know for your trip. It includes a Google map to our meet location in Squamish, easy to fill out sizing form (if you need gear), a link to buying your fishing license, secure online invoice, FAQs, what to wear and everything else to make sure you prep’ed!
River Conditions
The rivers we fish are free flowing wild rivers. There are instances when river conditions aren’t optimal for a safe and fun trip. This happens if there are multiple days of heavy rains or freezing levels spike high. Don’t worry, communication for us is key, we’ll give you as much heads up as possible if there is a likelihood river levels won’t be good. Trips cancelled due to weather or water conditions are fully-refundable or we can get you rebooked, your choice.
Gearing Up
The fly fishing gear we use is a bit specific to the area but you’re welcome to bring your own if you have equipment that is suited to Pacific Northwest fly fishing. If you don’t want to travel with gear, or you don’t have any, that’s not a problem. We have a giant selection of waders, boots, rods and reels and a flat $59pp fee for gear rental. We’ll have it all ready for your arrival. Just need some flies or tippet? We got that, no problem.

We’ve always prided ourselves on being conservation minded above all else. Anadromous fish like salmon and steelhead are precious to us and we revere each of them. You’ll see this in how we angle for them, how we handle them and our catch and release policy. We’re also proud to lend our support each year to support local organizations including the Squamish Watershed Society, the Steelhead Society of BC and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
