Here’s a steelhead trip worth drooling over! A seven night package that includes six and a half days of guided fishing on the Bulkley and Morice rivers. This totally unique program gives you the opportunity to fish from two lodges; the main lodge on the Bulkley River and the remote lodge on the Morice River, the headwaters of the Bulkley. There is no other lodge package on the Bulkley that offers this, a one of a kind trip, putting you into British Columbia steelhead fishing paradise. Packages offered late August to early November.

The lodge is located on a large piece of private land right on the banks of the Bulkley River. Newly built in 2010, this is now the pinnacle of steelhead lodges anywhere in British Columbia. The main lodge building houses a comfortable lounge, dining room, open kitchen and bar area. Watch the cooks prepare fresh meals, put your feet up in the lounge and enjoy a cocktail or three after a day on the water. The lodge has a capacity of only twelve guests at a time, ensuring an intimate environment and personalized service. While fishing on the Morice River you’ll stay at a boat-access only lodge on the upper Morice. This is a very comfortable wilderness lodge with private cabins located right on the river. Here you’ll enjoy three days of steelhead fishing on some of the most remote steelhead water in northern British Columbia.

If there was ever the perfect steelhead fishing scenario the Bulkley fit the bill with consistent numbers of fish, angler friendly river conditions and scenic backdrops that showcase the wild beauty of British Columbia from every angle.
Fishing on the Bulkley River – Bulkley steelhead average in the 8-15 pound range with bigger fish in the 20 pound class certainly a possibility. The steelhead on the Bulkley are well known for their love of skated dry flies in the August and September. As we move into October most fish are taken on swung wet streamers. You’ll be fishing different sections of the Bulkley each day of your trip, utilizing jet boats to cover as much water as possible and gaining access to prime sections upstream of Smithers. The Bulkley is a very angler friendly river, a great option for first-time to BC steelhead anglers with long sweeping runs and relatively easy wading. You’ll enjoy three and a half days of guided fishing on the Bulkley.
Fishing on the Morice River – The Morice River is the main tributary of the Bulkley, originating from Morice Lake. Fishing the Morice is a huge bonus on this package, it is a remote river that offers enormous amounts of untouched water and excellent steelhead fishing. You’ll spend three days on the Morice, fishing more than 50 miles of this beautiful river. Angler pressure here is almost no existent and with the remote location of the lodge on the Morice you can be guaranteed fresh water all day long.
Bulkley Guide Staff – The Bulkley lodge program is one of the most popular trips we offer, largely in part to the incredible crew of guides you’ll fish with. Derek Botchford and his team of guides are among the most knowledgeable on the Bulkley, working hard to put you in all the right spots all day long.
This Bulkley River lodge package is a seven day trip, running from Saturday to Saturday. Expect to catch the early flight from Vancouver to Smithers on the first Saturday of your trip. Air Canada services Smithers with daily flights, but it is good to book early as space is limited. The flight is about 1.5 hours, leaving from Vancouver International Airport, a simple connection if you are arriving from an international location. This will get you into Smithers around 9.30 AM, where you’ll be picked up for the 30 minute drive to the lodge. Upon booking your trip we’ll send you all the travel information, what to bring and will organize for a pickup on your arrival in Smithers. We’ll also send you information on fishing licenses, a detailed steelhead gear guide and are always here to assist in travel plans.
