Year Round Fishing for Salmon

March and April is when salmon fishing in Vancouver really ramps up and we start getting more consistent fishing and generally some bigger chinook (king) salmon in local waters. Some of the best fishing during this period is from mid May to late June on the southern Gulf Islands, an area we run to on our 10 hour charters. This is historically a fantastic fishery with solid numbers of chinooks in the 10-20 pound range. From July through to September you really  can’t go wrong, Vancouver salmon fishing season is in full swing, with consistent fishing for all species of Pacific salmon,  including chinooks, cohos (silvers), pinks and sockeye. Great fishing combined with really nice weather, it’s tough to beat!  Our Vancouver salmon fishing charters are extra busy in the summer months so its a good idea to book your trip with us early.
  • We’re usually fishing with 15-45 minutes of our downtown moorage, maximizing fishing time!
  • Fish with our excellent crew of Vancovuer’s most experienced salmon guides.
  • Vancouver has year-round fishing options for all 5 species of Pacific salmon.
September and October are both solid months for our local Vancouver salmon fishing areas, usually 15 minutes from our moorage. This is when the run of Capilano River chinook salmon enter the area on their return home. We often see the biggest salmon of the season during this time period and the fishing is so close to Vancouver!

The fleet consists of four fully-equipped Grady White charter boats. These are the fastest charter boats in Vancouver giving us the capability to run to where the fish are with ease. Most of the fishing is done within 20 minutes of the docks but when you fish with us we always have the ability to run to all the daily hotspots! For smaller groups of up to four people, we use our two Grady White 23-foot Gulfstreams, The ideal layout maximizes deck space for comfort and fishing.
All boats have covered cabins, plenty of seating and are plenty of space for all. For larger groups of 5+ people we use our 30-foot Grady White Marlin. On our Vancouver salmon charters we’re not just hooking you up with the best guides but also with first-class experiences and these boats make up the top fleet in Vancouver, that’s a guarantee.

Boats do book early, especially from April to September, so make sure you inquire early to avoid disappointment.

Answers to Your Questions

We want you to have the best experience with us and know exactly what to expect, here are some answers to the most common questions about our Vancouver salmon fishing charters.

Are boats private or shared?

All charters are private, just you and your group onboard.

How do I get a fishing license?

Once you book your trip we’ll send you a full reservation confirmation with a link to purchase your fishing license online.

Can I take my fish home?

Of course! But keep in mind we will fillet and bag your fish but do not offer freezing or boxing services, none of the Vancouver charters do. Best way to bring your fish home is by styrofoam cooler and have your hotel freeze it in their freezer. You can travel with sport caught fish across the border to the United States without issue. You can also bring it to St. Jeans Cannery for smoking, canning or have them ship it home to you.

Are their bathrooms onboard the boats?

Yes, all boats have bathroom facilities.

Will I get seasick?

That’s very unlikely. We fish protected waters and are never more than a mile offshore and always in site of land. Our worst weather is some wind chop, no big swells.

What is your cancellation policy?

We offer a full refund on all trips cancelled more than 72 hours prior to your trip start date. For trips cancelled due to poor weather or ocean conditions (happens very rarely) we will give you a 100% refund.
