The Squamish Valley is located about an hour north of Vancouver and is home to a variety of free-flowing rivers that have healthy salmon returns in the Fall months. We’ll pick you up in Vancouver and have you fishing these wild coastal systems for coho and chum salmon. All transportation, guiding, and accommodations are included in these easy to enjoy packages. We use two nice hotels in Squamish for accommodations, putting you about 10 minutes from the river. Have a look at our our full feature with Fishing BC & The Fly Fishing Journal, focused on our Fall fishery on the Squamish River.
Fall salmon fishing on the Squamish River picks up in mid September as the first targetable numbers of fish enter the river system. On odd years (2015, 2017, 2019, etc.) we do have a run of Pink salmon that show up in mid August.  If you’re interested in fishing for chum and coho salmon then you’ll want to plan your trip for late September through until late November. There is also the opportunity to target trout, there are some beautiful rainbows and big bull trout in these waters.
We focus on fishing the sections of river closest to the ocean, targeting clean chrome fish as they come off the saltwater. Chum salmon can be in the 10-20 pound range, when they climb on to the fly their power becomes evident quite quickly!  We recommend the Squamish Fall Salmon Package to people looking for a true wilderness experience on the beautiful coastal rivers of southern British Columbia.
It’s your choice whether you’d like to do a walk-n-wade day or drift the river in one of our framed rafts. We have a variety of river sections we can fish and drift, you won’t get bored of ever seeing the same thing, let’s put it that way. If you’re wondering what the best option is simply send us an email through the contact form on this page and we’d be happy to give you some insight into which trip may be best for you.

Our Fall fly fishing program is different than anything else you’ll find in BC. We want those of you who to fish with us to learn more about fly fishing than you ever thought possible!
Teaching and improving spey casting is a big part of our daily Fall fly fishing trips. Spey casting, also known as Skagit casting or double-handed casting, is not unique to British Columbia, but something we love to introduce people to. Spey casting allows for casting longer distances with ease, getting the fly out in front of more fish. If you’re excited to learn, we’d love to get you dialled in on spey fishing!
From improving your casting, introducing you to new techniques or bringing your fly fishing game to new levels we’re always including a ton of fun instruction into our guided days. Anyone can offer you a few hours of flogging a river but there’s no operation that can match our instructional knowledge base and we’re pretty sure we have everyone beat on pure passion as well.  Whether you’re completely new to fly fishing, or have years of experience, we’re confident that you’ll leave fishing with us with new skills sets.
If you’re not looking for a full-day of guided fishing we are also offering our mini fly fishing courses, those can be a good option if you’re just wanting to learn and not looking for a guided day. If you’re wanting to combine both learning and fishing, then you’ll want to go with one of our full guided days.

“Yos and his team of guides treated us like gold. We had two epic days on the river, and caught a ton of fish. The Chromer team runs a first class outfit with super experienced and knowledgeable guides, and excellent communication every step of the way; from booking, leading up to the event, and during. I can honestly say it was the most positive fishing experience in my life, and our entire group of newbies are hooked for life on spey casting!”

We want you to have the best experience with us and know exactly what to expect, here are some answers to the most common questions about our BC Fall Salmon Fishing trips.

How do we get to the rivers we'll be fishing?

That’s easy. For our Squamish River fishing we can pick you up in Vancouver or even at the airport. For our Harrison River fishing you can rent a car and drive to Chilliwack BC or we can arrange for pickup in Vancouver and transportation.

How do I get a fishing license?

Once you book your trip we’ll send you a full reservation confirmation with a link to purchase your fishing license online.

Can I take my fish home?

Depending on seasonal openings you may be able to retain fish on the Harrison and Fraser rivers. Squamish River salmon fishing is a catch and release program.

What's the weather like?

Generally September and October are pleasant, in the 10-20 degree range. November does cool down, into the 5-12 degree range.  It is BC so you can always count on rain in the Fall months. We’ll send you a list of what to pack upon booking.

Are there bears!?!

On rare occasion we see black bears and on very very rare occasion we see grizzly bears on the Squamish River. Nothing to worry about, seeing one is a treat!

What gear do I need?

Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all available at a $39 CAD rate per day for rentals. We suggest using our gear, as it is perfected to the area and our fishery, but you are also more than welcome to bring your own. For fly anglers we generally fish 2 handed rods (7-9 weights) in the 11.5-13.0 foot range with Skagit style lines for throwing heavier sink tips and heavier flies. If you’d like more details simply let us know, we’re happy to provide a detailed gear list for Fall salmon fishing.
