June marks the official start of Summer here in British Columbia and that means lots of great fishing options province wide. June is an excellent month to enjoy a BC salmon fishing lodge package and a great month to enjoy lake fishing in BC’s interior. River fishing can often be a challenge in June with warmer weather melting snow and causing generally what are the highest river levels of the year. SALTWATER SALMON FISHING IN JUNE
For the best option for a BC fishing trip in June you’ll want to look to a saltwater trip. June is a great month, especially on BC’s north coast and Haida Gwaii. This area has several different lodges to choose from that offer all-inclusive fishing packages. Langara Island Lodge and Northwest Fishing Team both offer all-inclusive packages that include flights from Vancouver, lodging, meals and of course lots of fishing, for both salmon and halibut. Keep in mind if you’re planning a salmon trip that June is a very good month for Chinook Salmon fishing, but other species like Coho (silver) Salmon aren’t as abundant. They come later in the Summer season.
FISHING NEAR VANCOUVER IN JUNE
June can be a bit challenging on the freshwater fishing front close to Vancouver as it is when all of British Columbia’s rivers are at their highest points. This is due to warming weather melting the winter’s snowpack. River levels will be on the rise generally into late June and then will begin to drop. Depending on river conditions some of the smaller tributaries near Vancouver can offer some okay trout fishing. The high water scenario carries over to the Fraser River system and sturgeon fishing as well. There’s good sturgeon fishing in June, granted you’re fishing with the right guides. The remote canyon trips are not offered in June but our Chilliwack sturgeon trips are.

Some of the greatest lake fishing in North America is found right here in British Columbia. May and June, before the real heat of Summer hits, are two of the best months for stillwater fishing in BC. You’ll want to look to BC’s Interior Region for the lakes in the Merritt and Kamloops areas. There are more lakes in this area than one can fish in a lifetime and an affordable region to enjoy some great June fishing in BC.
