Did you know you can go fishing right from the beaches around Vancouver, Howe Sound and the Sunshine Coast? There is actually nearly year-round beach fishing for sea-run cutthroat trout on BC’s south coast. There’s even the opportunity at salmon fishing right from the beach. Why beach fishing?
Two main reasons. Mainly because we have times of year where local rivers are not in very good shape, meaning they are high due to melting snow. High rivers get muddy and aren’t much fun for a fishing trip, so we can go beach fishing instead. Secondly it’s lots of fun. You get to spend a beautiful day on the water, fishing on secluded beaches for wild trout and salmon. Here’s one of the beaches we fish regularly…
When is the best time for a beach fishing trip?
Generally we like to do our beach fishing trips in May, June and into July. That is when we have the nicest clearest ocean conditions and usually have the best fishing for sea-run cutthroat trout. We do get coho (silver) salmon on occasion while beach fishing and on odd years (2019, 2021, etc) we have very good beach fishing for pink salmon. Best time for pink salmon fishing from local beaches is July and August.
How do we arrange a trip?
If you’re planning to fish with us during a period when we are susceptible to higher river levels, generally mid May to late June, then we usually are beach fishing. If you’re simply interested in a beach fishing trip during another time of year, let us know and we can give you a local fishing report and you can make your choice on what you’d like to do.
What’s include….
Our Vancouver beach fishing trips include pickup in Vancouver and transportation to our local beaches. We are usually fishing anywhere from 15-40 minutes from Vancouver, depending on which of the beaches have been offering the best fishing and conditions. Obviously guide service is included, trips are private and you’ll be fishing with one of our pro guides. Premium equipment rental is available at a price of $39 CAD per day. We offer both five (5) hour half-day and (8) hour full-day guided beach fishing trips.
And how much…
Half-day five (5) hour trips are $395 CAD for one person and $530 CAD for two people. Full-day (8) hour trips are $495 CAD for one person and $690 CAD for two people. Licenses, taxes and gratuities not included.
